Punktum dk will release updates to the Registrar Portal and Self-Service Portal on 1 July 2026 at 00:00 CEST (midnight), restricting new .dk domain registrations to registrar management only and introducing Fast Track Transfer. Scheduled
1 July 2026, 00:00 CEST (midnight) Expected Impact
No downtime is expected during this release. Upgraded Services
In October 2025, Punktum dk announced the transition from a dual-model system — where domain names could be managed either directly by the registrant or through a registrar — to a registrar-only model. This release implements the first phase of that change. From 1 July 2026, only registrar management will be available for new .dk domain registrations. Existing registrant-managed domains may continue to operate under the current model through the transitional period ending 30 June 2028.
The following policy changes will be enforced across all interfaces including EPP from 1 July 2026:
• Registrant management disabled for new registrations: New .dk domain registrations must use registrar management. Attempts to register under registrant management will be rejected.
• One-year renewal cap: Domain registration and renewal is limited to one-year terms. Requests for multi-year terms will be rejected.
• Withdraw as registrar no longer possible: Registrars will no longer be able to withdraw from managing a domain and return it to registrant management. All managed domains must remain under registrar management. New Feature: Fast Track Transfer (Optional)
Participation is entirely optional. Registrars that do not opt in are unaffected — the existing manual auth token transfer model continues to apply unchanged.
Fast Track Transfer is a new opt-in feature that allows auth tokens to be exchanged system-to-system between Punktum dk and the registrar, eliminating manual token handling by the registrant.
• Registrants initiating a domain transfer are now presented with a list of all registrars accepting commercial registrations.
• Registrants can choose between the classic (manual auth token) flow, or the Fast Track Transfer flow for registrars that have opted in.
• On Fast Track Transfer selection, the registrant provides explicit consent for Punktum dk to share domain name, auth token, and contact information with the chosen registrar.
• Punktum dk initiates the backend flow towards the registrar and redirects the registrant to the transfer workflow URL received from the registrar.
Registrar Portal 4.8.0 — registrar configuration
• Registrars can opt in to Fast Track Transfer via a new "Fast Track Transfer" setting in the Registrar Portal.
• Opt-in requires providing a Fast Track Transfer endpoint URL and, optionally, an API key.
• Only opted-in registrars are shown as Fast Track Transfer–supporting in the self-service portal.
Backend API
Upon registrant consent, Punktum dk initiates a backend flow towards the registrar, passing domain name(s), short-lived scoped auth token(s), and contact information. The registrar responds with a transfer workflow URL to which the registrant is redirected.
